Challenges, Levels, Likes and Dislikes

After implementing the game pages, we sought to incorporate more features requested by the clients. Specifically, a levels system as well as a challenge page. In this blog post, we’ll delve into how we implemented these features and the impact they’ve had on the app's overall experience.

The concept of a levels system was introduced to provide users with a sense of progression and accomplishment. To implement this, we leveraged the existing 'levels' column in the players' database. This database column became the backbone of our new system, allowing us to dynamically adjust the game's difficulty based on the player's progress.

We introduced a picker on the game selection page, enabling players to easily change levels without needing to navigate away to the edit players page. This intuitive feature meant that with just a few taps, the app could fetch the current level from the database and update it as soon as the player opted for a new challenge. This seamless integration ensured a fluid user experience, keeping players engaged and motivated to progress.

To further captivate our users, we added a challenge page within the games section. This innovative page automatically escalates the player to a level higher than their current one, unlocking previously inaccessible levels, including the elusive level 4. This approach not only spurs players to test their limits but also adds an element of surprise and excitement to the gameplay.

Understanding user preferences is key to continuous improvement. To gather valuable feedback directly from our audience, we introduced like and dislike buttons for each game. The results of these actions are compiled in the games database, offering us a clear view of each game's popularity. This feedback mechanism is crucial for our team to identify what works, what doesn't, and what can be improved, ensuring that we can tailor the gaming experience to better meet our users' tastes and preferences.
